Contributions 2026
The contributions for financing the National Bureau of Insurance NBI and the National Guarantee Fund NGF will be adjusted from 1.1.2026. The annual contributions for motorcycles will decrease, those for heavy motor vehicles will increase and those for light motor vehicles will remain unchanged.
COB Managing Director
COB Managing Director Greet Floré is retiring in June 2026 after 16 years. A successor will be sought promptly to ensure a smooth transition.
Charter of Road Traffic Victims’ Rights
The Charter of Rights for Road Traffic Victims is an ethical code of conduct for handling national and international damage claims. In January 2025, a marketing campaign was launched to promote the Charter in order to raise awareness of fair claims handling in Europe.
COB Presidential Elections
The election process for the new COB presidency (2025-2030) has been completed. The members submitted nominations, which were put to the vote. The following college was elected unanimously.
International Motor Insurance Card in PDF format
Since January 1, 2025, the International Motor Insurance Card can be issued and presented in PDF format on electronic devices.
Modification of the law
Various amendments to the Road Traffic Act (SVG) and the Traffic Insurance Ordinance (VVV) affecting the Swiss National Guarantee Fund (NGF) came into force on January 1, 2024.
Iran
The General Assembly of COB has decided to suspend the membership of the Iranian Insurance Bureau indefinitely starting from January 1, 2024.
Russia and Belarus
The bilateral agreements with Russia and Belarus were terminated on May 31, 2023. Their COB membership has been suspended indefinitely since June 30, 2023.
New Managing Director
On January 1, 2023, Daniel Diez takes over the operational management of the NBI and NGF. Daniel Wernli becomes President of both associations.
